June 2006

It was brought to my notice that the World Cup football may have interfered with
the possible outcome of the Charity Bowls Day.
The Community Wardens team were playing in the consolation plate, and leading
7-3 on the final end, when they learned from their opponents that the final was
to be played at 4pm (kick off time), and also that their opponents were glad to be
losing because they wished to
get away to see the match.
However the wardens likewise wished to see the same match. After a short team
talk and with a little bit of effort they managed to lose 5 shots on the final end
to give a result of 8-7.
They were jubilant at losing in the face of victory.
